President's Report
Spring is finally here after a long winter. The shows have started and ground is being worked. Hopefully you got your winter projects finished up, I know I didn’t. The Club has gotten off to a great show season so far. We had a great show at the TSC in Clay, NY set up by Kevin Barany our show committee chairman for the western area. Twenty-seven tractors from our Club showed up and the Two Cylinder Club. TSC’s Spring Grand Opening brought many people in and they loved seeing our tractors. They asked many questions about them. Great job Kevin!!!
We have had two successful plow days, one hosted by the Miller Family of Verona, the other hosted by the Kelsey Family of Canastota. Both events brought out a lot of our members who enjoyed a day in the sun and put the old tractors to work. It also brought out many spectators to enjoy the sight of several of the old girls making quick work of some pretty good sized fields! Thank you to both the Miller Family and the Kelsey Family for having us again this year.
Some of us enjoyed a great day in the Camden area for the Sto-Ne-Nols Campground Tractor Drive hosted by Jim Suits and his family. It was great to see so many of our members show up for this annual event. 47 tractors set off on a beautiful drive through the scenic area of Camden. After stopping for lunch and a chance to stretch our legs we headed back to the campground where we had a FANTASTIC pot luck supper. It was a great day even though it rained it never dampened our spirits! When Jim says rain or shine he means it! Thank you Jim and the whole Suits Family for inviting us and hosting a wonderful time. You and your family did an outstanding job of organizing and running the trip.
Tom and Carol Gerken have offered to host the annual picnic again this year at their lovely home on College Hill Rd, Vernon Center. The picnic will be on Wednesday July 1st starting at 6 o’clock and our shortened monthly meeting will be held after supper. Bring along a small gift for the gift raffle and enjoy another great meal with your fellow club members. For directions call one of the officers and we will be glad to help you out.
There are many great events coming up so check your calendars, the website, contact one of the officers for updates, or see listing below. We are still looking for members to sit on the show committee so if you would like to help please contact me or Dean.
This is your Club, your participation will make it that much better! Have a great month!!
Mohawk Valley Power of the Past Show - Several Club members attended this show. According to Carole Gerken, initial count of tractors was 66. WOW! The weather was beautiful both days. Tom Gerken again provided a demonstration of the hay press. Tractor pull was enjoyed by all. Chicken barbeque was a great success. Lee Edwards is to be commended for his management of this event. Bill and Andrew Lollman had our sign (CNY ATC) at the show.
